The Game Awards ceremony — and all the expected reveals that come with it — is back this year. Geoff Keighley’s annual event will be an in-person ceremony at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Dec. 9. Once again, developers will gather together as Keighley awards the best games of 2021 and reveals some upcoming projects for 2022 and beyond. The event is invite only, and coordinators will reveal health and safety protocols at a later date.

The Game Awards has grown exponentially each year and saw 83 million livestreams in 2020. The Game Awards 2021 will also offer a 4K livestream for free, like last year. “We are very excited to return to the Microsoft Theater for a special night to celebrate the past, present and future of video games,” said Keighley about the 2021 event. “Our goal is to bring the entire community together to celebrate the most powerful form of entertainment in the world, and recognize emerging voices that represent the future of the medium.”

Last year’s The Game Awards event was all digital, but revealed Sephiroth’s turn in Smash, Xbox’s Perfect Dark reboot, teases for new Mass Effect and Dragon Age games, It Takes Two, Ark 2, and more.

This year we’d expect a new trailer for Elden Ring, God of War: Ragnarok, and something bizarre from Hideo Kojima’s annual appearance.
