The end is quickly coming for Fortnite Chapter 2. You’ll be able to take part in the event later today, Decemebr 4, at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET. In an event that is, appropriately enough, titled “The End,” we will get a sendoff for what has been an immensely long saga in Fortnite’s growing history. The event will only run once, so you won’t be able to take part if you miss it the first time. Your only option then will be a rewatch online. But don’t worry, we’ll be covering the event in full–as well as everything that happens next like the Chapter 3, Season 1 battle pass. Here’s all you need to know about Fortnite: The End – Chapter 2 Finale.
Fortnite: The End – Chapter 2 Finale Start Time
Fortnite’s sure-to-be epic finale event kicks off on December 4 at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET across all platforms. If you’re interested in joining the story event, it’s recommended that you queue into the playlist as early as 30 minutes ahead of time to ensure you can reserve your seat for the figurative fireworks. The times are below by region:
- 1 PM PT
- 4 PM ET
- 9 PM GMT
- 10 PM ECT
What does Fortnite Chapter 3 include?
Naturally, we don’t know a heck of a lot regarding what the event will entail beyond reasonable assumptions from years of similar events and current happenings in the story. Our Fortnite Season 8 story recap lays out all the facts as we know them, but no one outside of Epic knows how it will all end just yet. You can also read about why Chapter 2 has fewer seasons than Chapter 1 here.
Given that this is the end of not just the season, but also the entire chapter, it’s safe to assume a new island is on the way to Fortnite, much like how Chapter 2 saw the disappearance of Athena and the subsequent arrival of Apollo. The new island, rumored to be named Artemis, will likely be quite different from what we’ve seen before, because that’s the expectation Epic has set for itself by now, four years into the massive live-service experiment that is Fortnite. In fact, a leaked trailer for the next battle pass reveals a lot of new content, including weather effects, new physics like sliding and more realistically chopping down trees, and more. Even Spider-Man is on the way.
Finally, pictures of Spider-Man.
If you notice in the key art above, the words “The End” also seem to be styled with upside-down terrain drawn into the letters. This is probably another hint at the next island’s “flipside” rumor, which in lore terms seems to indicate that the island of Artemis is somehow the inverse or upside-down version of Apollo. We’ll understand that better in a few days, no doubt. For now, it makes me dizzy. The Rock himself seemed to be hinting at the flip in a video he posted, ostensibly about his own energy drink.
The finale event coming on December 4 means the season will end a day earlier than originally planned, and because of that, Epic will gift 225,000 XP to all players who log in before the beginning of The End. Playing through The End will also net you an exclusive loading screen and wrap to commemorate the incoming apparent cataclysm.
Take advantage of deals in the meantime
In anticipation of the finale event, Epic has also stressed that you should seek to finish off your Toona Fish color bottle styles, Cube Queen challenges, and other battle pass rewards, as once The End arrives, those rewards will be locked for good as loopers around the world are flung headfirst into a new Fortnite reality.
The End is here, but surely The End is just a new beginning. Get ready, loopers. It’s about to get weird again.
