Perfect World Entertainment and Magic Design Studio have announced Have A Nice Death–or HAND–during The Game Awards 2021’s pre-show festivities.
The 2D action roguelite puts players in control of Death–the CEO of Death Incorporated, the company in charge of processing the souls of the dead–as he fights through the headquarters of his company trying to subdue “rogue employees who have been collecting too many souls.” Each room of the massive headquarters is procedurally generated, with the heads of each department–called Sorrows–serving as the game’s bosses.
Death will find over 30 unique weapons and spells throughout the game, all of which can be upgraded to make his loadout even more powerful. Death can also upgrade himself through Curses, but those will have an adverse effect on the world around him.
Developer Magic Design Studios has collaborated with Dead Cells lead developer Sebastien Benard for HAND, who has joined the team as a consultant. “I was totally hooked by the charming concepts behind Have a Nice Death and I’m thrilled to be a consultant on the game,” Benard said in the official release. “The game’s premise of Death as CEO of the Underworld coupled with its cute hand drawn art style and great gameplay loop is sure to establish it as one of the next great roguelites.”
