The Roku Channel has released an official trailer for Slugfest, a 10-part docuseries about the rivalry between comic-book companies Marvel and DC. It will land on the streaming service on December 24.
Slugest comes from executive producers the Russo Brothers and is narrated by Kevin Smith. The series is inspired by author Reed Tucker’s 2017 book Slugfest: Inside The Epic 50-Year Battle Between Marvel and DC, which is “the first book to chronicle the history of this epic rivalry into a single, in-depth narrative, is the story of the greatest corporate rivalry never told.” Check out the trailer below.
Originally commissioned by Quibi in November 2019, Slugfest was originally slated to debut on that short-lived service in 2020–but Quibi shut down before the intended release date. Similar to The Roku Channel, CBS also recently threw a lifeline to Reno 911, which was revived for Season 7 on Quibi. After Quibi’s demise, Paramount+ recently debuted the topical film Reno 911: The Hunt for QAnon in December.
A new trailer was also recently released for A24’s “interdimensional action film” Everything Everywhere All At Once, which was also produced by the Russo Brothers. Everything Everywhere All At Once is due to hit theaters on March 25, 2022.
