Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection was revealed during PlayStation’s March State of Play. The collection combines a ton of retro TMNT games in one package, allowing you to relive Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo’s earliest gaming adventures.
“It was clear from the start The Cowabunga Collection needed the entire western release of 8-bit and 16-bit games, their Japanese versions, and of course the TMNT Arcade games,” Konami senior producer Charles Murakami wrote on PlayStation Blog. “Together, we’re bringing all 13 console and arcade games and their regional versions to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in 2022.”
TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection is being handled by developer Digital Eclipse. The studio is adding modern quality-of-life improvements to the games included in the collection, such as the ability to rewind the games or save your progress from anywhere. And, of course, no need to have a hefty bag of quarters on hand to play the arcade games.
All told, The Cowabunga Collection combines about 30 years of TMNT’s history, all of which released across multiple types of gaming hardware, including arcade machines, consoles, and handheld devices.
