Elden Ring is overflowing with melee weapons and magic spells, but what about those who want to stick mostly to magic without sacrificing that feel of close-range viability? That’s where Carian Slicer comes in, offering you a bit of fast damage dealing capabilities at melee range. If you want to make use of that potential, read on to find out where to pick up this fun sorcery.
Carian Slicer explained
Carian Slicer is a sorcery that requires 14 Intelligence to cast. It performs a short-range slash with a magical longsword, making it a decent choice for sorcerers looking to feel a bit more like a melee character without having to use an actual armament.
Carian Slicer’s item description reads:
One of the sorceries of the Carian royal family. Conjures a magic sword and delivers a swift sweeping slash. This sorcery can be used without delay after performing another Action. Even among the Carian sword sorceries, this is a notably effective technique.
Where to find Carian Slicer
Carian Slicer can be purchased from Sorceress Sellen at Waypoint Ruins [1] in Limgrave. She sells the spell for 1,500 runes, but you’ll need to bring her a scroll first.
Waypoint Ruins / Royal House Scroll
The Royal House Scroll [2] is found nearby, making it a quick and easy grab even at low levels. Simply walk or ride your steed south of Waypoint Ruins to an encampment with a couple of large ruins with sorcerers firing down upon you. Make your way up to the eastern ruin, kill the sorcerer, and loot the corpse for the Royal House Scroll.
Return to Waypoint Ruins and go down the set of steps there that lead into a cellar. Inside, you’ll have to take on the Mad Pumpkin Head boss. This early enemy is slow and quite simple to take down so long as you remember that his head is immune to damage. Focus your attacks on his backside or stomach. When he dies, you can walk through the door and meet Sorceress Sellen, who will sell you Carian Slicer once you give her the Royal House Scroll.
This NPC will eventually move from this spot if you follow her lengthy questline. However, she will continue selling her spells at her new location. If you want to know more about how that quest plays out, follow our Sorceress Sellen Quest Guide.
