Better Call Saul’s mysterious and forceful cab driver first introduced in Season 4 and known only as Jeff has been recast–and will apparently recur at some point during the final six episodes of Season 6 that begin airing this coming Monday. According to Entertainment Weekly, Don Harvey, who originally played the character, will be replaced by Pat Healy (The Post).
Entertainment Weekly reports that Harvey was unable to return to Saul because of a contractual obligation to HBO–the actor has a significant role on the new David Simon drama, We Own This City. Fans picked up on the announcement early on Reddit, noticing a different cab driver in a recently released teaser–which seemingly had switched actors in that role, but didn’t make that shift obvious, or it was unclear because a scene previously shown at night was now taking place during the day.

In relatedly, and arguably much bigger news, Better Call Saul showrunner and co-creator Peter Gould finally confirmed what fans had also been expecting for six seasons–that Walter White and Jesse Pinkman will appear on the spin-off before it ends. Gould teased to Entertainment Weekly in late June, “I think the way you see them and when you see them won’t necessarily be what you’d expect.” Gould added that he’s kept an eye on fan theories online about how Walt and Jesse will come back, and was “happy to report I haven’t heard a theory that comes quite close to the actual fact.”
Better Call Saul’s final six episodes will also feature Carol Burnett in a character known as Marion. Nothing further is known about her role.
