Thanks to E3 2021, we caught a double dose of announcements for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin before the game launches three short weeks from now. The first E3 news came from Capcom’s live presentation, which featured a story trailer. Check it out below!
In the trailer, we see brief glimpses of the large cast of characters in the game. It seems that an emotional story will play a significant part in the single player campaign. We also see content for the first free game update – it’s the inclusion of Palamute from the hit game Monster Hunter: Rise! Palamute arrives on July 15.
Nintendo gave us our second dose of Wings of Ruin with an extra long demo of gameplay during its Treehouse Live event! This is the same demo that will be available for fans to try starting June 25. You can find it on the Nintendo eShop to download for free. And in even more good news, your progress in the demo will carry on to the full game!
During the demo, we spot fan favorite monsters like Anjanath and Pukei-Pukei. And yes, Pukei-Pukei’s face does get red!
In Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, players will experience the MH world through gameplay mechanics not traditionally found in the series. You take on the role of a Rider (as opposed to a Hunter), befriending monsters called Monsties that you raise and ride as mounts throughout an open world. These colorful collectible creatures will fight beside you in turn-based RPG battles. While that concept might sound familiar, fans of the original Monster Hunter Stories will attest that the gameplay is top notch and might even be considered better than other games populating the genre!
Also featuring a huge open world, the ability to battle alongside friends in multiplayer quests, and cross-compatibility perks with Monster Hunter: Rise, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin sounds like a game that fans won’t want to miss!
The game will be available on Nintendo Switch and PC on July 9, 2021.
