A big (free!) update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons is now available for the Nintendo Switch life simulation game. Originally scheduled for release on Friday, Nov. 5 — alongside a substantial paid add-on called Happy Home Paradise, which will introduce all-new activities and items to New Horizons — Nintendo has made the update available early.
As of Wednesday evening, Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 2.0 update is now available for download. To update the game, players can select “software update” from the Switch home menu by pressing the plus button while the Animal Crossing: New Horizons icon is highlighted.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ 2.0 update includes new features, like Brewster’s coffee shop, town ordinances, the return of Kapp’n and deserted island boat tours, new DIY recipes for cooking, and collectible Gyroids. Even some classic Animal Crossing villagers who hadn’t previously appeared in New Horizons are back!
Happy Home Paradise, which is available for pre-order from the Switch eShop, does not appear to be playable yet. Animal Crossing fans may actually have to wait until Nov. 5 (or the evening of the day before) to experience that new DLC.
Keep your eye on Nintendo of America’s support website for the latest details on Animal Crossing: New Horizons’ next major update, as well as the company’s Twitter account (and its dedicated Animal Crossing account, which is adorably “run” by Isabelle) for the latest.
