When Apex Legends Season 13: Saviors launches, it will offer a wide variety of additions and revisions. These include the brand-new character Newcastle, new limited-time events, a fresh batch of cosmetics, and balance changes. It will also see changes to the Storm Point map and should give plenty of incentive for players to jump back into the battle royale. We’ve rounded up all of Apex Legends Season 13’s most important information to get you prepared, including its start date and time, what to expect in the battle pass, and more.

When does Season 13: Saviors begin?

Apex Legends seasons run for three months each to allow for a total of four seasons per year, and Respawn has announced that fans will be able to dive into Season 13: Saviors on every platform beginning May 10. Of course, that date is barring an unexpected delay that could arise for any number of reasons. Season delays have happened in the past, so it’s not completely out of the question, but it remains an unlikely scenario.

What’s new in Season 13?

Season 13 is adding a fresh character to the ever-expanding roster, updating the ranked system, and changing some parts of its newest map Storm Point. Here’s what you need to know about those changes.

Defensive Legend Newcastle

Known as the “Hero of Harris Valley”, Apex Legends’ newest character Newcastle is beloved legend Bangalore’s brother, adding a new depth to the existing lore and certainly setting the two siblings up for some uncomfortable encounters as they battle it out against one another in the Apex Games.

Newcastle’s abilities will bring more protection abilities to the game’s meta that will allow him to shield allies and defend positions. His passive lets him drag downed allies behind a shield as he rezzes them, while his tactical ability deploys a mobile barrier, which he can move at will to either grant cover for repositioning or provide protection to his squad when caught in the open. Meanwhile, his ultimate deploys an even larger shield with strategically-designed gaps for allies to shoot through while they remain protected.

Ranked Reloaded

Season 13 will also make some updates to Apex Legends’ Ranked mode, which Respawn is referring to as “Ranked Reloaded.”

A description of the changes hints at what to expect, saying, “Rise and fall through the Ranks together in a reworked Ranked system that rewards teamwork and skill.”

Fans speculate that this means there will be heftier consequences for losing in the mode, with repeated failure resulting in being demoted to lower ranks.

Storm Point map changes

Apex Legends’ newest map Storm Point is undergoing some changes in Season 13, too. A giant sea monster has been slain and washed ashore on the western coast of the map, giving players an opportunity to explore around–and even inside of–it as they seek out their loot. This point-of-interest is known as Downed Beast, and it is designated as a “high-tier loot” area, all but guaranteeing it’ll be a popular spot to land.

IMC Armories have appeared around the map, too, and they’re guarded by Spectre units. If you and your squad are able to defeat the Spectres, you’ll have an opportunity to upgrade your gear. Since the loot that drops from these events are specific to your loadout, you can be guaranteed that you’re earning something useful every time.

What’s in the Season 13: Saviors Battle Pass?

Season 13 will have a Battle Pass like every other season, and it’s expected to cost 950 Apex Coins. Respawn promises “legendary skins, reactive skins, and more.” Leaks indicate that it will be “fantasy-themed.” It appears skins will be offered for Bloodhound and Fuse (Legendary), as well as Mad Maggie, Newcastle, and Pathfinder(Epic).
