Activision has announced that the file size for Call of Duty: Vanguard will be “significantly” smaller than previous entries in the series, which have been criticized for being massive.

In a tweet, Activision said Vanguard uses “new on-demand texture streaming tech” to help save up to 50% of storage space on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PC.

As mentioned, games like Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops Cold War, among others, have been called out for their large file sizes that only grow bigger with ongoing updates.

Activision did not announce a specific file size for Vanguard yet, however, so it remains to be seen just how significant the storage space solution may be. But whatever the case, this is seemingly good news.

Vanguard launches on November 5 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. The new game will launch as Activision Blizzard faces a lawsuit from the state of California over alleged harassment and discrimination against women.
