Call of Duty’s Season 5 Reloaded update went live this week, bringing a bunch of new changes and content to the game. Treyarch has shared the patch notes for Black Ops Cold War’s mid-season changes. This includes new maps and modes, Zombies changes, another double XP event, and much more.
New Multiplayer Maps, Modes, And Playlists
Black Ops Cold War’s “new” map for Season 5 Reloaded is a remake of Zoo from the original Black Ops. Zoo will have a 24/7 playlist of mixed 6v6 modes.
The objective-based Demolition mode comes to Black Ops Cold War as well. Demolition is a respawn mode that requires the attacking team to attempt to destroy two enemy bomb sites, while the defending team must prevent the attackers from detonating both bombs before the time limit expires.
12v12 Moshpit, Face Off 6v6, and Cranked Moshpit playlists will also return to the featured playlist for the start of Season 5 Reloaded.
Zombies
Zombies on Echelon
For the Zombies mode, Armada is being added as an Outbreak region, which is listed as being the last new map coming to Outbreak.
A new Zombies feature “Rampage Inducer” is coming to all round-based maps, which gives the option to crank up the action for 20 rounds.
Here’s Treyarch’s description of this new feature: “A special Essence canister in the starting area of each map. All players must vote to activate the canister and induce Rampage. Once activated, the spawn rate and movement speed of enemy zombies will be increased through Round 20 for a much more intense experience. If it’s too intense for your liking, all players can vote to turn the Rampage Inducer off, and this effect can be toggled on and on at will as often as once per round. If it’s left unused, the Essence canister will explode after Round 20.”
Dead Ops Arcade 3 is also getting a pretty significant update, and the patch notes detail a host of gameplay changes, bug fixes, and stability improvements. This includes XP adjustments for the Ikari EggXit bonus map and some weapon audio tuning.
The Numbers Event
The patch notes also detail the The Numbers Event, which is a seasonal event across Cold War and Warzone that players can participate in to earn in-game rewards. Treyarch details this as a set of nine Cold War challenges that can be completed in multiplayer or Zombies. Warzone will also receive a unique set of nine challenges to complete, for a total of 18 challenges and 19 rewards to earn during the event. Completing a full set of nine challenges in either game will unlock an event weapon reward. However, this event didn’t start at the launch of Season 5 Reloaded. The Numbers Event will begin on September 21. This likely ties into the mysterious Red Doors found on Warzone’s Verdansk map, and the Black Ops campaign narrative revolving around the brainwashing Numbers program.
Double XP Weekend
If you haven’t gotten enough XP this season, double XP and double weapon XP is available from September 10-13 across both Black Ops Cold War and Warzone.
While this double XP weekend is happening for Season 5 Reloaded, Call of Duty: Vanguard is also offering a multiplayer beta for anyone on PlayStation who preordered the game. This closed PlayStation beta runs from September 10-13. The following weekend will host another beta, including access for those who preordered on Xbox and PC, as well as anyone on PlayStation for its first two days. It becomes a true open beta for anyone on the final three days.
You can find the full patch notes for Cold War’s Season 5 Reloaded below, as shared by Treyarch.
All of the new Call of Duty content is arriving as Activision Blizzard faces a lawsuit from the state of California over harassment and discrimination against women.
