Call of Duty: Vanguard will get Warzone integration with the new Caldera map on December 2, but Raven Software has a few limited-time events scheduled for players to say goodbye to Verdansk. First up, Operation: Flashback is live in Warzone, which is a limited-time Quads mode that brings past elements of Warzone back to Verdansk.

In Operation: Flashback, players will drop into the most current version of Verdansk ’84, but at the start of each circle collapse, players can expect a random in-game event from the past and present modes.

  • Fire Sale: Major discounts at all Buy Stations for most items
  • Jailbreak: All eliminated players redeploy into the match
  • Supply Chopper: Supply helicopters fly around the map. The chopper health is now significantly reduced compared to the standard event to make them even more of a game-changer if you can acquire their supply crates
  • Cash Drop: Plunder cash drops will become available across the map
  • Loadouts: Free loadout drops. However, this gift comes with a new twist: Loadout drop markers are only available to purchase from Buy Stations once this public event has happened, meaning you can’t get a custom loadout until the event happens

In addition to these public events, one of several seasonal events from the past can also happen at the start of each circle collapse.

  • Ground Fall from Season 4 of Black Ops Cold War: Satellites crash to the ground in this event, dropping satellite loot caches
  • Hostile Fire from Season 3 of Black Ops Cold War: Arm C4 on the rooftop of Downtown’s “Nakatomi Plaza” tower while avoiding the incoming attack chopper for one of the vault keycards
  • Restock from Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War: All supply boxes on the map close and refresh their loot
  • Resurgence from Season 1 of Black Ops Cold War: All players redeploy if at least one squad member is still alive
  • Juggernaut Royale from Season 4 of Modern Warfare: Multiple juggernaut crates deploy to the field, equippable as one-per-squad
  • [REDACTED] Weapon Drops: This is a brand-new event for Operation: Flashback that drops heavy weapons crates with predefined loot

This limited-time mode will also bring a change of pace to matches in Verdansk. The circle collapses in Operation: Flashback will happen at a quicker pace and in greater numbers, with nine collapses instead of eight, but each circle will be slightly larger in radius compared to those from a standard match in Verdansk.

Warzone loadout drop

And adding to the chaos of the pace increase, this Warzone flashback mode also includes the game’s most overpowered weapons. The Activision blog post for the event says Operation: Flashback features a dedicated item pool curated with weapons that many players will recognize as “meta-defining” since Warzone’s inception. This includes the Dragon’s Breath shotgun, akimbo weapons, and some versatile marksman rifles.

The item pool for Operation: Flashback includes standard selections of equipment, perks, and killstreaks like gas masks, cluster strikes, and Advanced UAVs, but it also brings back limited-time mode additions. This includes the Overdrive perk from Season 5 of Black Ops Cold War, which grants players a temporary speed boost and Hunter Vision from Season 5 of Black Ops Cold War, which occasionally highlights all nearby enemies with a heat signature, granting players increased visibility even through cover.

The Buy Station menu has been updated with new items:

  • Self-Revive Kit
  • Armor Plate Bundle
  • Armor Box
  • Recon Drone
  • Munitions Box
  • Sentry Gun
  • Loadout Drop Marker
  • Bombardment
  • Armored Truck

Players can expect two unique rewards for Operation: Flashback:

  • An Emblem for participating in the event
  • And an animated Calling Card for those who claim victory

The first reward is just for participating in the limited-time mode, but the animated calling card requires you to win a match during the event..

Overall, Operation: Flashback sounds like a mode that can either be a fun nostalgia trip or a trolling nightmare, depending on how overpowered some of the returning weapons or armored vehicles feel. Additionally, two more Verdansk events will follow Operation: Flashback. On November 24, the Secrets of the Pacific event will let players collect intel related to the new Caldera map by completing challenges in both Warzone and Vanguard multiplayer. From November 30 to December 1, Vanguard’s preseason will also include the Last Hours of Verdansk, which is vaguely described as watching to “see what happens to Verdansk before Warzone goes dark to prepare for Caldera.”
