Electronic Arts is taking us out to the ball game for the first time in 17 years as MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022 is available now on mobile devices.
The new installment of the long-running baseball franchise is EA’s first foray into America’s pastime since MVP Baseball 2005. EA’s involvement comes from their acquisition of the game’s developer Glu Mobile in April 2021.
MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022–featuring Philadelphia Phillies outfielder and 2021 National League MVP Bryce Harper as the cover athlete–has added a slew of new features, including the following:
- New Avatar Gear that allows for team customization and in-game boosts.
- A new level of challenges called Champions Tier that can earn players some of the game’s biggest rewards.
- A new leaderboard system
- More rewards from Club Events and weekly challenges.

The game also sports new visual enhancements–including over 300 new motion-capture animations–as well as a streamlined UI for a simpler gameplay experience. Players who wish to import their All-Star rank or Keeper players from the 2021 edition can find the directions on how to do so on the official Glu Mobile website.
MLB Tap Sports Baseball 2022 is the latest in Glu Mobile’s perennial mobile baseball franchise, which has to date been downloaded over 56 millions times. The game is available now on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Those looking for a console baseball experience will not have to wait much longer, as MLB The Show 22 launches April 5 on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and for the first time ever, Nintendo Switch.
