Forget about badly-drawn monkey NFTs or Dogecoin, because one of the most valuable digital commodities currently available is an access code to Elden Ring’s network test.
Codes have been going out this week so that developer From Software can see how the game’s online elements perform under player stress-testing, and if you didn’t get a closed network key, your only option left is to pay an extortionate price for one on eBay.
As spotted by VGC, several scalpers have listed Elden Ring closed network test keys for sale, charging between $150 and over $500 for the code. These aren’t just the prices being asked by scalpers, as fans are actually bidding for a chance to get an early hands-on experience with Elden Ring.
Elden Ring scalpers are charging a hefty premium
While we’re not exactly that well-versed in the law regarding the sale of network test and beta keys for upcoming games, such activity likely won’t sit well with publisher Bandai Namco. For those of you who have received a code legitimately, the test is still scheduled to take place from November 12 and will run for three days over several three-hour slots:
- November 12 – 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET
- November 12 – 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET
- November 13 – 11 AM PT / 2 PM ET
- November 14 – 3 AM PT / 6 AM ET
- November 14 – 7 PM PT / 10 PM ET
From Software released an in-depth breakdown of Elden Ring’s gameplay last week, showcasing over 20 minutes of exploration, action, and a boss fight with a well-armed opponent. Slightly delayed from its original January 2022 release date, Elden Ring launches for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC on February 25.
