Fortnite and Universal have jointly revealed We Will Be Monsters, the latest crossover for the ever-popular battle royale game. We Will Be Monsters is an animated limited series starring reimagined versions of the Universal Monsters such as Dracula and the Bride of Frankenstein. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series will run for four episodes, but a staggered launch means fans will be waiting a while after the premiere.
The first episode of We Will Be Monsters will air this weekend within Fortnite, October 28-November 1. Fans looking to check it out should queue into Shortnitemares, an in-game horror film festival that will feature seven different animated shorts from around the world. The three subsequent episodes will launch in 2022.
Each of the classic monsters has been given new looks for the series to represent more modern and multiethnic characters. While we haven’t seen most of the new characters just yet, the official Shortnitemares trailer does tease a new look for the Bride of Frankenstein.
We can be sure the image features the reimagined Bride because earlier this week, Epic accidentally sent out its Bride of Frankenstein Item Shop reveal. The skin is scheduled to properly debut later this week according to Fortnite’s tarot card teases, and it may even be tomorrow to coincide with the Shortnitemares premiere.
We Will Be Monsters will redesign classic monsters using lifelike animation.
Rick Famuyiwa is directing the project following his work on Disney’s The Mandolarian. Meanwhile, the cast includes Chemon Theys as the Bride, Victory Ndukwe as Frankenstein’s Monster, and Emmy Saheki as the Mummy, among others. Each episode will coincide with one of the characters landing in the Fortnite Item Shop, so players should expect Dracula and the rest to arrive sometime in 2022 alongside future episodes.
For more Shortnitemares content, don’t miss the new Kernal Poppy skin coming very soon. Of course, the 18.30 patch notes contain a few scares of their own.
