Ariana Grande and Fortnite team up Friday evening for the Rift Tour, an in-world concert featuring the multi-platinum Grammy winner. Her show kicks off at 6 p.m. EDT, with four encores, one on Saturday and three on Sunday. Here’s how to watch the concert:
For starters, here are the show times (all times EDT)
- Friday, Aug. 6 at 6 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 8 at 12 a.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 8 at 6 p.m.
Of note, this FAQ says Rift Tour dates are not region-locked; Epic has selected times that are most convenient for certain parts of the globe, but tune in whenever you like. Go more than once if you want, too.
Epic Games recommends players load up Fortnite an hour before the concert starts. About 30 minutes before showtime, players will see a special Rift Tour playlist; joining that queue gets you in line for the concert. This is probably a good idea, as past concerts have drawn 10.7 million (Marshmello, in 2019) and 12.3 million (Travis Scott, last year) concurrent users.
“Our goal is to accommodate everyone possible, but if capacity is reached, please join us for one of the other shows,” Epic said.
Another option is to tune in to your favorite Fortnite streamer, who might be watching along and broadcasting. Epic provided guidelines for content creators that permit streaming the Rift Tour or hosting content from it on YouTube afterward.
One thing to note, if you’ve seen this screen (below) in the game, it’s not an RSVP or a guarantee you’ll get into your chosen event. It’s basically an in-game reminder, and a means of coordinating your attendance if you and pals want to watch together.
Naturally, there are a bunch of in-game cosmetics tied in with this concert, and they’ve been on sale in the item shop since Thursday evening. That includes two Ariana Grande outfits, an emote, a glider, a pickax (with a variant appearance), and the “Piggy Smallz” Back Bling, a reference to Ariana Grande’s emotional sup-pork animal.
All this stuff can be bought in a bundle for 2,800 V-Bucks; the outfit (2,000 V-Bucks) glider (1,200) and pickax (800) are sold separately, too.
There’s also a set of Rift Tour Quests that are available until Aug. 8. See the Rift Tour tab for details on how to earn the “Cosmic Cuddles” Loading Screen, “Rift-sterpiece” Spray, and “Cloud Kitty” Emoticon.
