In a recent Late Show appearance, host Stephen Colbert pitched guest Henry Cavill on having Superman bring back the underwear worn outside of the iconic blue supersuit. Although there are no immediate plans for Cavill to reprise the role, he said he would be “open” to the wardrobe tweak.
“[The underwear] was a bit of a hangover from the strongman of the ’20s,” said Cavill, while laughing at an image Colbert was holding up of an old-school Superman costume. “I thought that, actually, it had the potential to work. I mean, maybe not exactly those ones.”
Added Cavill, “I really loved my suit–I thought it was pretty cool. However, if it were to happen again, I would definitely be open to the idea of adding the trunks in some way, shape, or form.”
Cavill’s appearance on the Late Show was in support of Season 2 of The Witcher, which will debut on Netflix on December 17. The series has already been renewed for Season 3. Beyond the main show, Netflix recently released the animated movie The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, greenlit a prequel live-action series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, and revealed that a second animated Witcher film and a new “kids and family” series set in the world of The Witcher are coming as well.
Cavill also recently revealed in another interview that he would “love” to be cast in the reported Mass Effect series adaptation that is nearing a deal at Amazon Studios.
