There was a lot going on in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, so you’ll be forgiven if you can’t quite remember what went on with John Cena’s character, Peacemaker. Thankfully, he’s here to catch you up on what happened in the movie, with some help, in a spoiler-filled new video posted to the show’s official Twitter.

While this short, three-and-a-half-minute video doesn’t even begin to capture the wild ride that is The Suicide Squad, it does reveal some of the film’s biggest twists, especially concerning Peacemaker himself, so beware going in.
Peacemaker and Agent Emilia Harcourt (Jennifer Holland) walk us through all those twists and turns, with Harcourt correcting Peacemaker’s embellished remembering of events at every turn while hinting at what’s to come–namely that the show is about Project Butterfly. Harcourt says it has nothing to do with fighting a giant moth, but Peacemaker isn’t so sure.
Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker is a character straight out of the Silver Age of Comics, thanks to that decidedly old-school gleaming helmet and its mirror finish. In the comics, Peacemaker discovers that his obsession with peace comes from having a father who was a Nazi death camp commandant. He believes that, in addition to all its communications hardware, his helmet collects the souls of all the people he’s killed, and whose voices he can hear commenting on his actions.
Some aspects of the character have obviously changed for the live-action version, but we’re hoping that there’s more to his helmet than just its iconic status. Peacemaker hits HBO Max on January 13; make sure to check out our review before it debuts.
