Mario can fly, jump, and punch his way through Minecraft worlds, thanks to a new mod from Pdxdylan. The mod, which isn’t yet complete, allows the developer to run the Super Mario 64 engine inside the classic sandbox game.
A clip posted by Pdxdylan on Twitter shows Mario from Super Mario 64 exploring Minecraft environments like caves and The Nether. This modded version of Minecraft allows Mario to do everything that he does in original Nintendo 64 game, like jump, punch, and swim. The video even showed Mario using a Wing Cap to take flight.
The modder noted that the project is still a work in progress, and not representative of a final project. Still, it looks like there’s a lot there. The video doesn’t show Mario mining or crafting, but he does interact with the Minecraft world and objects around him. He can use materials like spiderwebs to climb across gaps, he can punch sheep and other creatures, too. If you want to see the full scoop of what’s there, you can view the video below.
I'm working on a #Minecraft mod that runs the Super Mario 64 engine! It's very WIP right now but here's some highlights pic.twitter.com/QCfzl10ip0

This isn’t the first time Minecraft and the Mario worlds have collided. Mario came to the game with a special world and skin when the launched on Nintendo Switch. But for those hoping to play this mod, that day might not come. In a follow-up tweet, Pdxdylan said they can’t promise a download, since Nintendo often issues DMCA takedowns to fan projects.
“The most I can do now is post silly videos of what I do in-game with it,” they said.
