Netflix has entered into a deal with the Roald Dahl Story Company to create more content based on the works of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory author.

The two companies are working together to “bring some of the world’s most loved stories to current and future fans in creative new ways,” Netflix said. This will include Taika Waititi’s new event series set in the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and “another wholly original take on the Oompa-Loompas.” Additionally, a live-action version of the Matilda stage show is coming in 2022, featuring Emma Thompson, Lashana Lynch, and newcomer Alisha Weir as Matilda.

The deal also covers new “games” of some type, according to the announcement. Netflix, which has acquired the Roald Dahl Story Company’s catalog, will create a universe of sorts spanning movies, TV shows, consumer products, and “games,” Netflix said in its announcement.

“As we bring these timeless tales to more audiences in new formats, we’re committed to maintaining their unique spirit and their universal themes of surprise and kindness, while also sprinkling some fresh magic into the mix,” Netflix said.

Netflix didn’t share any specifics on the new Roald Dahl games, nor did the company even confirm they will be video games. But Netflix is making a move into the gaming space, recently adding games to the Netflix app in Poland before it’s expanded to other places.
