Netflix has announced a new Kung Fu Panda animated series, and Jack Black is returning to voice the main character, Po. Hailing from DreamWorks Animation, Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight follows Po as he embarks on a quest to stop a pair of mysterious weasels from stealing powerful weapons.
Po teams up with a “no-nonsense” English knight named Wandering Blade on his journey, though Netflix did not announce who is voicing this character or provide any images. Whatever the case, the “mismatched warriors” find common ground and work together as they seek out the magical weapons to save the world.

The announcement of The Dragon Knight was made today on National Panda Day, and Black himself announced his involvement in a TikTok video. The show premieres this July on Netflix.

Kung Fu Panda the movie premiered in 2008 and was a massive success, spawning two sequels, which were released in 2011 and 2016. Multiple shorts were also released. Netflix’s new TV series is not the first for the franchise, as Nickelodeon’s Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness debuted in 2011, while Amazon Prime launched Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny in 2018.
After The Dragon Knight, Black will voice Bowser in the upcoming Super Mario Movie.
