The Force can be mysterious, but Star Wars video games even more so. Star Wars: Hunters has emerged from the abyss of a galaxy far, far away with a new cinematic trailer that offers few new gameplay details but plenty of attitude. And that attitude is pretty fun!
The trailer depicts a dustup between a Sith warrior and a Mandalorian bounty hunter that gets increasingly out of hand as others join the fray: Wookiees, Stormtroopers, two Jawas in a trench coat, and a droid named J-3D1, all armed to the teeth and seemingly ready to fight everyone around them. It is, in other words, the perfect encapsulation of a chaotic multiplayer game set on one of Star Wars many desert planets.
Announced during the February 2021 Nintendo Direct, Star Wars: Hunters is a free-to-play multiplayer arena combat game for Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch. Developed by Zynga, the pioneer of free-to-play social games like Farmville, Star Wars: Hunters takes place on the planet Vespaara, home to an arena where Hunters across the galaxy compete in team-based battles.
Initially announced for later this year, Star Wars: Hunters is now expected to arrive in 2022.
