Netflix has released a set of new posters highlighting characters returning for Season 3 of The Umbrella Academy. Although a premiere date of sometime this year was announced via the show’s Netflix page, nothing more specific you can mark on your calendar has been revealed yet.
Emmy Raver-Lampman (Central Park, Jane the Virgin), who plays Allison Hargreeves, told Collider in a recent interview that she “hopes” the show will be back on Netflix this summer, adding that they’re currently re-recording dialog in the studio and the season “looks incredible… [and exciting], and it just has a completely different energy.” Last year, it was revealed that Season 3 would introduce several new cast members existing in what is likely an alternate reality Sparrow Academy–including Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, and Cazzie David.

The above images–showcasing different cast members with their back turned, hoisting an umbrella–won’t mean a whole lot unless you’re a hardcore fan of both the streaming show and comic book series of the same name by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá. However, some gaps can be bridged and reasonable guesses can be made about what’s in store courtesy of the previously released list of episode titles.
Based on the 2007 Dark Horse comic book series, The Umbrella Academy takes place in a world where 43 women gave birth at the exact same time in 1989–even though none of them showed any signs of being pregnant. Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven of them and made them into a superhero team. In the present day, the long-estranged siblings are brought back together after their adopted father has died. Season 2 was released in August 2020–check out GameSpot’s review here.
