The original FarmVille was a Facebook sensation with a very simple concept: What if you could grow a bunch of crops over time, convert them into profits, and then grow more crops on a bigger farm? It’s been over a decade since then, and plenty of games are still influenced by FarmVille today. On Thursday, Zynga announced a new addition to the FarmVille franchise for iOS, Android, and Mac.
Players show up to a homestead and complete challenges in order to unlock new farmhands, learn about animal husbandry, and even control the weather. There are 150 breeds of baby animals, and someone’s gotta raise them right. That’s you, the farmer, assisted by series veteran and helpful tutorial character Marie.
There are chickens, cows, growing crops, and all of the things you would expect from a FarmVille game, but also some odder inclusions. For instance, your farm could have an alpaca, or a tiger. Not 100% sure why you’d want a tiger — seems like a security risk — but it is quite cute.
Players can also customize their home and reach out to neighbors to form co-ops for more rewards and easier farming. Users who download the game within the next two weeks receive a starter kit with some goodies with which they can start their farm.
