Warframe, the free-to-play space ninja action game, has an interesting take on season passes. Their passes, known as Nightwave, usually come alongside an interesting story like the rise of a plague cult, or the crime spree of an escaped convict. Players complete in-game challenges and earn rewards with no paid feature. Making the deal a little sweeter is that between the big events, smaller Nightwave passes will run with some of the top tier rewards, limited rewards you can’t earn otherwise.
Such an event is happening now. On Wednesday, Digital Extremes launched Nightwave: Nora’s Choice, which offers 30 tiers of rewards. Several of these are themed around the newest Warframe, Yareli, an aquatic Warframe who uses a manta ray-style surfboard to get around. Some rewards include cool cosmetics from past packs that you can’t otherwise earn, so it’s a decent time to jump back into the game.
Warframe is bound to have a big boom in the future, as cross-save, cross-progression, and cross-play are coming to the game for all platforms. A mobile port is also in the works, which will allow you to play wherever you like.
