Like most of us, actor Henry Cavill enjoys engaging in a hobby or two when he’s not busy portraying iconic superheroes on the big screen. Besides a passion for building gaming PCs, Cavill is also a fan of tabletop gaming, specifically Warhammer. That information was revealed on The Graham Norton Show recently, in which Norton accidentally confused Warhammer for World of Warcraft, much to Cavill’s amusement.
To his credit, Norton quickly corrected himself when he realized just how serious a blunder he’d made by mixing the two properties up, but he did manage to get a light jab in on Netflix’s resident Witcher near the end of the segment.
“There’s the painting [and] modeling side of the hobby, and then there’s the gaming side of the hobby,” Cavill explained to Norton. “Then you put them together in little armies and you fight against someone else’s army. It’s actually fun! It sounds ridiculous, but it is fun.”
Spider-Man actor Tom Holland was seated next to Cavill, and he asked if he could come over to try out Warhammer. Cavill invited him over, and the fan plot for Spider-Man: Home Away From Home wrote itself. In other Cavill-related news, The Witcher 2 is still on track for its December 17 premiere on Netflix. Cavill tore his hamstring during the filming of the second season but managed to work through the pain.
Beyond the main show, Netflix recently released the animated movie The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, greenlit a prequel live-action series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, and revealed that a second animated Witcher film and a new “kids and family” series set in the world of The Witcher are coming as well.
As for Holland, there’s no word yet on if the latest Spider-Verse film features a scene with him in the DC universe sending an Orc Warboy army to smash Superman’s collection of High Elf mages, but he’ll be hitting the big screen on December 17 in Spider-Man: No Way Home and there’s already a new trilogy of films starring the webhead in development.
