DICE has always encouraged Battlefield players to play the objective, but the studio is seemingly taking this to new and funnier heights with Battlefield 2042.

It’s been discovered that at least one of the game’s maps includes a joke about playing the objective. Next to real points of interest on a train line map are fake stops connected in line as, “Why. Are. You. Reading. This. Play. The. Fudging. Objective.”

It’s a fun little easter egg, and we can only wonder if Battlefield 2042 has other references to the importance of playing the objective. The game also features tutorials that, in a more practical and helpful manner, inform players about the importance of playing the objective to help your team win.

Unlike other shooter games, Battlefield puts a greater emphasis on teammates working together to secure objectives to win. As such, playing the objective as opposed to lone-wolfing it is more important in Battlefield. “Play the objective” has been a running joke/meme in the Battlefield community for years, and it’s continuing with Battlefield 2042, naturally.

In other easter egg news, Battlefield 2042 players have discovered families of happy penguins and a snowman on the game’s Antarctica map.
