The dark knight finally returns to cinemas in March, and with plenty of positive buzz around it already, speculation on a sequel to The Batman is already in the air. While Warner Bros. has yet to officially announce The Batman 2, star Robert Pattinson knows exactly who he’d like to face off against if a follow-up film gets the green light.

“I’d love to do something like Court of Owls,” Pattinson said to Den of Geek, referencing the secret society that first appeared in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo’s 2011 Batman comic book series and whose gothic aesthetic would fit well into director Matt Reeves’ vision of Gotham City. “There are elements of The Batman which are kind of horror and I think it really feels quite new for Batman.”

In the comics, the Court of Owls is revealed to be the true power behind Gotham, a cabal of influential businessmen and criminals who rule from the shadows and eliminate anyone who poses a threat to them. Such problems are usually dealt with by sending in the Talons, the Court’s assassins who are almost immortal thanks to comic book science.

Pattinson is also a fan of the Calendar Man, a serial killer obsessed with important dates and commits his crimes based on specific holidays. A genius at his lethal craft, the Calendar Man’s starring role in Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale’s The Long Halloween was one of the big influences on the design of The Batman.

Before Batman can start fighting other members of his rogue’s gallery, he’ll first have to deal with Paul Dano’s Riddler, John Turturro’s mob boss Carmine Falcone, and Oswald Cobblepot, played by Colin Farrell under a ton of make-up that makes him almost unrecognizable as the infamous Penguin.

The Batman releases in theaters on March 4, and also stars Zoe Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Andy Serkis as Alfred, and Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon. The movie runs for nearly three hours, and is the first of several big DC films coming out in 2022. If that’s not enough, you can also prepare for Pattinson’s turn as the iconic hero by listening to both The Batman and the Riddler’s themes, and there’s a 4K version of a clip that unofficially leaked.
