Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for its Marvel movie Morbius starring Jared Leto, providing a good look at the upcoming film that’s due to release in January 2022. This is an origin story for the Spider-Man villain/hero/anti-hero Morbius, which tells the story of Dr. Morbius and his attempts to save other people from a rare blood disorder but instead unleashes a new evil.

“The line between hero and villain will be broken,” reads a line from the movie’s description. “Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble. Will good override evil–or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Morbius is directed by Daniel Espinosa (Safe House) from a story by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Morbius also stars Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as Loxias Crown, Adria Arjona (Good Omens) as Morbius’s fiancée Martine, and Jared Harris (The Terror) as his mentor.

Morbius hits theaters on January 28, 2022. The film has been much delayed–it was originally due to hit theaters in July 2020 but was pushed back multiple times because of the pandemic. You can watch the first Morbius trailer here.
